New music?

For general disagreements, please write to help@plumjo.com. (We will actually respond.)

BLUEM
BLUEM is Chiara Floris, from Sardinia, now based in London. Her recent music has received a lot of praise in Italy and has been called an “instinctual exploration of primordial love.” (Spotify)

Semiwestern
Semiwestern is a kind of semi-western band, which is to say, it is Americana and indie. Lyrics have a bit of good ol’ story-telling to them and draw on classic references to country. They sound pretty honest. (Spotify)

Ovlov
Ah, yes. Ovlov might belong in Angsty, but they definitely recall good energy from the indie shoehgaze era. Steve Hartlett might have real things to say, we can’t tell. Introspective. (Spotify)

Hip-Hop

Fettucine
Federico, known as Fettuccine, is 24 years old and lives in Milan. He is very shy, but shouldn’t be. Sunny is incredibly catchy. (Spotify)

Giumo
Giumo comes from Bari, Italy. He transitioned from hardcore to an experimental hip-hop style. (Spotify)

Funk & Dance

Another Taste
You can dance to Another Taste. Their live performances are said to be a spectacle, with a lot of improvisation and carefully thought-out arrangements. A standout. (Spotify)

Cousin Kula
Here’s an interesting band from Bristol, England who claim references from 70s prog-rock to R&B. Good songwriting and quality recording work. (Spotify)

Angsty

Lamante
Lamante—Fabrizio Magnani and Eliana Romano—are “a love letter written in static.” Meta-Amour (2021) is their latest album. It is said that their shows in Italy feature really exceptional immersive experiences with pulsating lights that connect to the beat of the song. (Spotify)

Being Dead
Being Dead is a duo with members named ‘Falcon Bitch’ and ‘Gumball.’ They are known for their live performances and for opening a restaurant called Piss Tarte which, according to their Spotify, earned two Michelin stars and a Pulitzer. We don’t know, but it sounds interesting.(Spotify)

Truth Club
Truth Club hails from a place called Raleigh. Not An Exit has some intense, brooding, post-punk energy about it. They’ve been called wistful and nervy. (Spotify)

Experimental

Water From Your Eyes
Here’s a Brooklyn-based band that has been around a lot lately. Water From Your Eyes is a duo that makes experimental music (the same genre that I would use for bands like Deerhoof). Their hypnotic music cannot be called expected. (Spotify)

Instrumental & Serene

Dave Guy
Dave Guy is a living trumpet legend known for being from New York, playing with the legendary Dap-Kings, Amy Winehouse and others. Solo, he explores some more experimental territory. He reminds us of the power of a lone trumpeter. (Spotify)
